The thing about cases like this is that
it's very rarely the features of the platform that's the deciding factor,
it's network effects and platform effects. If you applied your model to
Windows vs OS/2, you might not have guessed that Windows would reign so
triumphantly. Even more than PCs, people buy game platforms for individual
gaming titles, and early leads in numbers shipped mean more titles...
Another question is whether Sony will be able to get any leverage from
their near-monopoly with the PS2.
